ParticipantThank you Jan and Dr Kopec. I’ve used the track and it’s really good. It works with a new idea of being aware of the space around you and in you which somehow is very relaxing.

ParticipantWhen I went back to work after over a year off I was advised to take every opportunity to take a break from what I was doing. So at tea breaks, etc. I would go somewhere by myself and try to relax a bit and do some slow breathing. As soon as I got home in the evening, I did the same – I got out the TENs and relaxed. I didn’t do much else in the evenings. Hubby prepared the meal for us, so I was lucky.
good luck, it may be tough at first but you will get stronger and stronger.

ParticipantHi there, laminectomy and/or discetomy and fusion can be done at the same time. I was offered this myself recently at Bristol:

ParticipantThanks for the reply. You really worried me when you said I might have heart problems
I went to the doctor who examined me and said the ankles were swelling because of me not being able to exercise very much because of my pain. He said I should get the leg pump going to improve the circulation and do heel lifts very often during the day, like you would on a plane to avoid dvt. and if i was resting, put my feet up higher on a couple of cushions. I’ve been doing this for a while and it really is helping. You might like to try it too. K

ParticipantDear all…
Thank you to all that sent me words of support and best wishes. While I am getting better, I am being careful not to overdo things and have posted little notes around the house to remind me!
My surgeons were Jake Timothy and Stuart Ross, both based at LGI and the Nuffield Hospital in Leeds. They are brillient and I thank them for helping me so much.
Best wishes to you all and hope you are having a good day
