ParticipantThe same thing happened to me years ago . I kept telling my doctor
I thought I had fibromyalgia but he said no way have you got that .
He wouldn’t refer me to anyone. I did some digging and found a consultant who specialised in fibromyalgia so I went back to the doctor and said if you refer me to him and he says I haven’t got it I won’t ask again, after a lot of thought he referred me . After 10 minutes of
questions and an examination I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia!!
I went back to the doctor and said I told you I’d got it !!
It only took me 16 years for the diagnosis !
Some gp’s think they know everything.Hope
ParticipantHi Lee , Glad you got sorted . My problem has been going on for 4 years
now and getting worse all the time .Hi Laura, Sorry you are suffering too . My problem points to my
bowel /colon but because nothing is showing up to cause this pain
they won’t do anything . I’m in constant pain which is excruciating
After a bowel movement. It never let’s up unless I go 2/3 days without going .Hi Jan, Thanks for the checklist. It will be a great help and I
Will certainly be using it .Hope
ParticipantHi Annie
The pain is the worst thing but not knowing
the cause is worrying me .
My discharge letter is lies , it says ” You have been reassured ”
No way was I reassured and I said surely you can’t send me home
in this amount of pain . I will have to see my GP but referrals
take so long if you can get one and I’m struggling to cope with the pain .NHS = No Hope Service .

ParticipantI think I am better off on oramorph as I too tweak the dosage .
I try to keep to 5ml but have been taking 6ml recently, with doctors permission.. He said I can take 71/2 ml but I want to keep the dosage
as low as possible as I’m sure I’m going to have to increase it in the future.Hope
ParticipantHi Annie
Yes I did start taking it but the pain relief wasn’t
anywhere near enough so GP has put me back on oramorph.I’ve tried Longtec before but the side effects were so bad.

ParticipantHi Annie
Do you take shortec ? Does it help your pain ,
What dose do you take and do you get any side effects? Thanks
Hope
ParticipantHi Di . Yes I meant Shortec .
Dr didn’t say about switching , just don’t take oramorph as well .
I wanted to try the shortec today but I’ve been taking oramorph
so Will try to wait until tomorrow .Good to hear you get on well with it .
ThanksHope
ParticipantThanks Lee , I’m sure someone will give me advice.

ParticipantHi Annie
I was on 5mg longtec twice a day . I was also taking 5ml of oramorph
4 times a day and codeine 60mg 4 times a day , thinking about it
It seems a lot , no wonder I could barely stand up !Think I might ask my doctor if I could try the longtec again
and leave the oramorph off .What are you taking ? I’ve lived with pain for 36 years and can can cope
with some of it but certain pain I have is unbearable.Hope
ParticipantThanks Di, I will go back and see my doctor.
I’d never heard of shortec and longtec until I was prescribed it .
It did help my nerve pain , so disappointed the side effects were so bad .Hope
ParticipantGot the shortec wrong! I was taking longtec .

ParticipantHi Annie and Di , Thanks for your input.
I was on shortec capsules, 2 a day , 12 hours apart .
I was also prescribed codeine 60 mg 4 times a day and oramorph 5ml
4 times a day. After being on this concoction for a short time I struggled
to get out of bed . It was helping my nerve pain and other pain .
Sadly doctor took me off the shortec because of the side effects.Do you think it would be ok to take the codeine and shortec and leave
the oramorph off ? What concoctions do you take ?Thanks
Hope
ParticipantHi Lee, Did you have a disc pressing on a nerve ?
If so did it relieve your pain? Is surgery on your back dangerous ?I find that the consultants don’t explain everything to you .
Hope
ParticipantHi Annie, Yes I meant oxycodone .I’m not on it yet
but my GP mentioned me trying it if I can’t get my pain to
come down on my present medications. What type of pain do you take it for and how much relief
Do you get ? Also do you get any side effects ?Hope x
Hope
ParticipantHi Lee, Thanks for replying. I saw my doctor today
and been told to up my oramorph. If that doesn’t work I have
to go back and perhaps try oxycodeine .Thanks for the suggestions.
