Hi All, Since Xmas been getting dizziness,i am hard of hearing severly Deaf.went to Gp in january he said he would write to ENT to see a specialist as its my nerves from brain to cochlea that is the problem for my deafness and over the years getting worse. so in february had no reply from hospital so rang GP and he hadn’t had chance to get it done a few days later rang again and he had done it. about 2 weeks later had an appt. from hospital 5th june 4 months away well getting close now i thought great .well today had 2 letters, same day one cancelling junes appt. and the other making an appt. 10 july cannot make it as it clashes with another appt. so rang and they made it for 17 july a week later. I had explained this has been going on for 7 months is there any way i can have an earlier appt. answer NO. 7 MONTHS to get an appt. never had this before, 3-4 months max. just feeling very frustrated and annoyed that they can let someone sick and stumble about like i’m totally off my head on something and feeling and being sick for so long that it’s starting to feel my normal. what the hell is going on, this country has had its day and is totally broken.
SORRY for the rant but needed to get it all off my chest as feeling a bit frustrated and annoyed by it all. has any one else had to wait 7 months or longer for an appt.? any take feeling a bit calmer now, hope your all having a fair day take care all and best wishes. Lee

    Hi Lee
I am not surprised you need to rant- that is just awful- and so stressful having to sort it all out over the phone. I suspect, like many aspects of the NHS it is a postcode lottery as to how long you have to wait.
It must be very isolating dealing with the deafness and sickness on top of the other challenges you have to live with.

I waited over a year to see the pain clinic…and then I only got an appointment because I phoned up in tears and absolutely at the end of my tether. ‘Magically’ they found an appointment after saying it was completely booked out.

    Take care Lee

Hi Helen, Thanks alot for replying to that. also been on phone to GP to get more sickness and dizzyness pills as i have run out cannot even get to talk to anybody over the phone all changed to automated as they have let an out side firm called lakeside take them over and since then it has got ten times worse, on the phone for an hour before i hung up, without talking to anybody. rang pharmacy who kindly put a request in for more pills for me, and even she said it used to take 2 days for repeat but since being taken over its now ten days. what a joke . and all GP surgeries in my area have been linked together all under Lakside. so unless i travel 12-15 miles to a different county I have no hope. wait till I need an appt to see them they are going to get some stick and a written complaint from me. it used to be such a very good surgery looking after my care with notifications of when i needed a review and blood tests for a number of things now nothing, so if I forget, thats it I,m forgotten.
Anyway how you getting on with that blog all ok , i hope without causing yourself to much exhaustion. take care ,best wishes and hope your well. Lee

Lee- I’m glad you are going to complain in writing- you and all patients deserve better. 10 days for a repeat prescription!!! How on earth can anyone keep on top of their medications!! It’s really inhuman.

I have been working on your Blog quite a bit today and it’s really coming together…so will let you have the copy hopefully quite soon. Take care, and I’ll be in contact, Helen

HI Helen, well different day today feeling a lot calmer, defiantly going to complain in writing as it’s getting ridiculous. must admit i don’t normally let things like that get to me, have not felt so angry and frustrated for such a long while I thought i was going backwards into my mental health problems, it took quite a lot of effort to calm down as my mind was running a way like a steam train with no brakes. feel quite knackered this morning after yesterday. LOL
Glad your getting on Ok with the blog cant wait to to have a read. seems strange reading about yourself. take care and best wishes. Lee

Coincidentally, my husband had a letter today changing a hospital appointment, putting it back 10 days.

Good idea to complain, and sometimes it can help to write to a local councillor or even your MP, though I’m not sure about that with Brexit and everything else that’s going on at the moment. Probably it’s more a thing for a local councillor – I did this for my parents once.

Hi Christine , Thanks, If I do not get a proper reason why the surgery has suddenly got into this state since being taken over by Lakeside it might be a good idea for Mp to get involved. My wife was on facebook and some of the complaints on there!! about the surgery, It is such a shame as it was a really good one, best in the area. Now I found out it could take up to a month or more to get a routine appt. That’s if anyone answers the phone. I picked up meds the other day and handed a written complaint to surgery manager, No reply as yet. I’m not usually the sort to complain as it is what it is,but when they are messing with peoples meds and lives that has overstepped the mark. anyway take care and best wishes. Lee
