    Hi Schnarff

Can I just ask how many of these you’ve had, and at what intervals? Also have you been told that there is a limit to how many you can have in total?

I’ve heard that you can only have 3 lots of injections, but not sure if thats in a particular timespan.

    Thanks

Sorry for the slow response but only just saw your query.

I have an initial exploratory injection followed by a course of either 3 or 4 (cant remember!) injections which had to be a month apart. Halfway through this treatment I felt a lot better but then after the final injection I felt worse if anything. Since then I have had two further “top up” injections, the last of which (in December) appears to have almost “cured me”.

When I first went I was told there was a limit to what they could do but when I pursued the matter after my course of injections I was advised that I could have these top up injections.

I saw my specialist a couple of weeks ago and he has released me on the understanding that I ring and book a top up when required. Apparently this could be in 5 months or 5 years!!! He did point out that it is possible to reach a stage where they dont work any more.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks.

I’ve just had my third, at approx 7-10day intervals. I must say they are helping me, and I’m very pleasantly surprised. The pain is still there but its a bit easier. I was told at the hospital that I can have another series of 3 in 3 months time, if I need them. Otherwise, they don’t hold out much hope, really. He said that the only other option is to fuse the joint, but I’m not keen on that at all, and he said that statistically, the results are not that good anyway.

It’s interesting how we get told different things, isn’t it? Different opinions I guess..

Anyway, hope you’re OK and not in too much pain. Thanks again

    Karen
