Hi Deb,

Have you ever tried Tapentadol. Its a pain killer designed specifically for nerve based pain.
Its relatively new (2011), and many doctors still do not use it.

I was prescribed it by the best pain clinic in the UK (St. Thomas), and it is marvellous. It does kill all pain, but does make you rather sleepy.
On the plus side there appears to be no side effects.

PS: In your condition you should not have to wait for any pain clinic appointment. Phone the hospital, and ask to speak to the secretary for the pain clinic. And push for an urgent appointment.
Or just turn up and tell them your not moving until your seen. Ive done that before !.
