I have just renewed my badge but I am on DLA. However my first claim was done with a letter from my GP as I didnt know about DLA. It was basically a letter saying that I was not capable of walking distances that would allow me to use a car effectively. GPs are occupational doctors and as such should still have considerable sway. Like all benefits there is an attempt to withdraw blue badges as it affects income for Local Authorities. My neighbour renewed last month with a GP letter with no problems whatsoever. I wouldnt worry before you need to.
