It is a terrible time for you and the hardest decision you will have to make but to be honest , by the time that happens, it’s likely she won’t remember much anyway. From personal experience I would never advise anyone to keep a parent or partner in late stage Alzheimers or dementia at home . People can cope for quite a long time but there does eventually come a time when even the most willing person simply can’t cope any more or keep their parent safe and they require specialist care. Think of it this way. If she had terminal cancer would you refuse to let her go to a hospice to be cared for by experts in a way you could never do at home? My dad begged to die at home but I simply could not provide the medical or physical care he needed at home and his consultant insisted. I deeply regret it but had no choice.
