Hi

I think it varies between Health authorities/districts on the easiest way to get a wheelchair.
My GP had to refer me to the Occupational therapist in order for me to get a wheelchair. The OT measured me and after discussing my condition recommended the type of wheelchair she thought I would find the most useful. The Dr had to give his authorisation for me to have the wheelchair through OT. It took approx 6 weeks from my Dr’s appointment to the chair arriving.
However,I live in Wales and our Health Policies are controlled by the Welsh Assembly. So any news about the NHS on the general news do not apply to us only England, which gets very confusing!!!!!
So some of the things that I write are only applicable to people who live in wales and vice-versa
Take care Anne x
