Hi i suffer with a wider foot and need a comfortable cushioned shoe because of back pain and M.E, im under 40 and wanted a show that wasnt too old looking but still gave me comfort and support for my pain, the best i have found is a brand called flyflot the sole is shaped to cushion your foot entierely they are so so comfortable and have inpact shock effect too, they do a whole range from sandals to shoes boots and slippers worth giving a go, and i have also got some marks & spencer footglove shoes boots for wider fit again they are soft and spongy but i wouldnt be without my fly flot. hope this helps from Claire xx
