I had that same treatment (not sure what it’s called either) in 1996. The acupuncturist put a lump of something onto the needle (only used one) lit it and put the needle in my lower spine (think it was a disc. The needle gets hot quickly and he took it out when I so.
It did work well for my lower back pain but I moved too far away to keep going back. His name is Stephen Gold, he’s now an osteopath but may well still do acupuncture, never found anyone that used the same method and have tried several. He lives in Newmarket (had a small practice from home and a private clinic in Cambridge.
