Hi Nicola, I have had two discectomies, both of which were successful for about 3 weeks!! Unfortunately that was about as good as it got! But I would have the operations again if I had my time over. I am a great believer in trying everything that is offered. The surgery, for me was a doddle, it was a little uncomfortable and restricted movement for a few days but nothing too major.I have recently had an SCS and have got off the Gabapentin which had made me put weight on (and have lost the weight really quickly). I had no problem getting off the meds but did reduce them slowly.
