We have to pay for everything here in East Africa (Kenya). £256 for my MRI’s in August. Hard copies are given to the patient direct or via the doctor. Soft copies have to be specially requested. Unfortunately when I needed digital data to send for a 2nd opinion to a consultant in South Africa, it turned out that the files had been deleted. They are only kept on the system for 2 months. So, be warned: they can’t keep all these big files indefinitely! Get digital data as soon as you can as this is the easiest format for sharing. I now have the additional expense of sending the originals via DHL.
