I think there are psychologists and then there are psychologists.

I see a councillor (who is a trained clinical psy) and we hardly ever talk about my pain, we talk about me and how I feel. The person I see is unconnected to a pain clinic so maybe that makes a difference. She has been a life saver for me dealing with the losses that my pain and illness has meant for me. Never ever has it been suggested that its all in my head, the effects of the pain on my life and relationships have always been at the heart of our discussions. not the pain itself.

Maybe I am just lucky to have found her.
