I cannot comment specifically about Abu Dhabi – apart from checking with the embassy here.
I went abroad & was worried about being stopped with prescription opiates & my GP wrote a letter so that it explained they were prescribed & I needed them at all times.
I hope you can find out more, but I would imagine lots of people travel there with many drugs so there must be some arrangement with the embassy.
